If you're unfamiliar with the common cinematic trope, I highly recommend looking up "deus ex machina" either on google or in any dictionary worth half a crap.
The deus ex machina used in 'Cabin In The Woods' was quite deliberate in its placement and in its sheer unlikeliness. Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon address each of the issues you mentioned in the commentary on the DVD and, not to be presumptuous, I'll trust their imaginative skills with storytelling over an anonymous Cracked writer any day of the week.

Now: the office workers setting up the Cabin In The Woods are unaware that they're all about to be slaughtered at the end of a horror movie made for our entertainment. The people making the movie stuck in a big red Blow Up This Facility Button right where anyone could find and use it in order for the end of the movie to play out. Before pressing the button, one of the college kid sacrifices says: "Let's get this party started."

The button is there because the office workers are sacrifices in a ritual to appease the audience, just as they think the five college kids are

The entire point of the first act of the movie is that Krypton is mired in crippling bureaucracy and their social and genetic engineering have made it impossible for them to think outside the box. It's this rigidity that killed Krypton.
